At the heart of our summer experiences is our award-winning Seamus Heaney HomePlace exhibition. Step into the world of Seamus Heaney and immerse yourself in his poetry and voice. Discover rare artefacts, evocative images, and the people and places that inspired his work – how they shaped his formative years and guided him on the path to becoming a Nobel Laureate.

Our special summer programme is designed to enrich your visit with unique experiences that bring Heaney’s work to life and create lasting memories for visitors with varied interests.

 

Early Bird Offer

Planning a visit to Seamus Heaney HomePlace? Take advantage of our Early Bird offer and enjoy the exhibition at a quieter, more relaxed time of day.

Experience the life and poetry of Seamus Heaney in a peaceful setting with more time to reflect and connect – all for a reduced rate of just £6.50 per person!

Available Monday to Thursday, from 16th June – 31st July 2025
Valid for arrivals before 11am or after 3pm
For visitors aged 60+

‘A Bite and Sup’ Tour

This summer, we are excited to introduce a brand-new tour experience: ‘A Bite and Sup’.

This thoughtfully curated tour weaves together poetry, place, and local flavour to celebrate the life and legacy of Seamus Heaney.

Begin with a visit to our award-winning exhibition, where you will explore the people and places that inspired Heaney’s poetry. Then, venture out to Heaney Farmhouse Brewery, located on The Wood Farm – Heaney’s childhood home near Bellaghy. Enjoy a 45-minute guided tour of the brewery, followed by a tasting of selected favourite ales brewed on the farm. Continue your journey with our Open Ground self-guided experience, wandering through the rich landscapes of “Heaney Country” that shaped his work and imagination, experiencing the land as he did in his youth. Conclude your day with a delicious three-course farm-to-fork meal at the Taphouse Bar and Restaurant in the heart of Bellaghy.

Afternoon Tea at HomePlace

For one special week only, from Monday 14th July to Sunday 20th July, experience a truly unique Afternoon Tea at HomePlace.

Immerse yourself in the world of Seamus Heaney as you explore our award-winning exhibition, then treat yourself to a scrumptious afternoon tea freshly prepared and served by the HomePlace Café.

It is the perfect blend of culture, comfort, and delicious flavours, all wrapped up in one unforgettable experience.
