Gary Lightbody In Conversation

Gary Lightbody In Conversation

We are thrilled to unveil another standout addition to our Summer Events Programme at Seamus Heaney HomePlace – Gary Lightbody In Conversation With Jan Carson!

Join Gary Lightbody, frontman of Snow Patrol, as he sits down with acclaimed author Jan Carson to discuss his deeply personal debut non-fiction book, The Forest is the Path.

Time. Home. Love. Death. Life.
These are the central themes of Snow Patrol’s No. 1 album The Forest is the Path, and the heart of this special live conversation with Gary.

Over the past thirty years, Snow Patrol have become one of the defining bands of their generation, with a global fanbase, multiple Brit and Grammy nominations, and iconic No.1 hits such as ‘Chasing Cars’ and ‘Run’. Their latest album, The Forest is the Path, released in September last year, went straight to No. 1 and was met with widespread critical acclaim.

Now, Gary joins us to share the stories behind the album and to introduce a new book that shares its name. This powerful memoir acts as both a prequel and a companion piece to the record.

At its core, The Forest is the Path tells the story of Gary’s father, Jack, who sadly passed away in 2019. It charts the emotional journey Gary experienced in the years that followed, a period of numbness that ultimately led him back to songwriting and to discovering a part of himself that had long been buried.

This In Conversation event will explore grief, healing, creativity, and the redemptive power of music. It promises to be a heartfelt evening filled with humour, honesty, and raw insight into the making of one of the most personal albums of recent years.
