Seamus Heaney HomePlace is delighted to screen this wonderful new documentary from DoubleBand and Lone Star Productions, who previously created Seamus Heaney and the music of what happens. Michael Longley: Where the Poems Come From is an intimate film profile of the Belfast poet, offering insights into his work, friendships, working process, the places that have inspired him and his relationship with his wife Edna. Longley has been awarded many international prizes, including the prestigious Feltrinelli International Poetry Prize in 2022. Like all great poets, Longley captures the universal, and, now in his eighties, he is still writing at the top of his game.

Following a screening of the film, Michael and Edna Longley will join the film’s director and producer Adam Low and Michael Rosenbaum to chat about the intention of the film and the process of making it.
