‘Art Forms Colliding’ with Duke Special

Duke Special has written numerous songs
inspired by other art forms: Under the Dark
Cloth
, his response to the photography of
Alfred Stieglitz, Edward Steichen and Paul
Strand; A Tuneswept Fiddle, his response to
paintings by Amedeo Modigliani; Hallow,
songs inspired by the poetry of Michael
Longley; Brilliant Mysteries, inspired by the
poetry of James Harpur; and to date, songs
for seven musical adaptations for theatre
including Huckleberry Finn (Lyric Theatre,
Belfast) and Mother Courage and her Children
(National Theatre, London).

For this unique event, Duke will play an
intimate concert in The Helicon performing
songs inspired by visual art and literature.
