HomePlace Poetry Lab
Inspired by the poetry and legacy of Seamus Heaney, our HomePlace Poetry Lab brings together young people aged 14-18 for three days of reading, discussion, creative writing and exploration.
Through workshops led by inspiring writers and facilitators, participants are encouraged to discover new ways of engaging with poetry, experiment with their own writing and develop their creative voice in a welcoming and supportive environment.
The programme takes inspiration from Seamus Heaney’s work, life and landscape, with opportunities to explore, create, share ideas and find inspiration both inside HomePlace and in the surrounding landscape of Lough Beg.
First launched in 2026 as part of our 10th anniversary celebrations, the HomePlace Poetry Lab was created in partnership with Ulster University. Following the success of our inaugural programme, we look forward to welcoming a new group of young writers in the years ahead.
