Demonstration with PJ Lynch
This year we are pleased to offer a GCSE Art day with acclaimed Irish illustrator PJ Lynch. This lecture day will address Component 1 Part B of the CCEA GCSE specification.
Belfast-born PJ Lynch is well known for his illustrations of The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey and When Jessie Came Across the Sea amongst many other titles. Lynch has won many awards for his work, including the prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal on two occasions. He has also designed posters for Opera Ireland and the Abbey Theatre, stamps for An Post, and coins for the Royal Mint.
Arriving at Seamus Heaney HomePlace, pupils will tour our exhibition before attending a demonstration taken by PJ Lynch in our Helicon theatre space.
Pupils will –
- Get first hand insight into the practice of an artist within the creative and cultural industries.
- Develop an awareness of the illustrator’s working practices.
- Develop an understanding of the purpose, intentions and functions of art and design and how this impacts on their own work.
