Van Morrison wows in intimate gig

The legendary Van Morrison delighted fans at three sold out shows this week at the renowned Seamus Heaney HomePlace, the building dedicated to celebrating the life and literature of the Nobel Prize awarded poet.

On Thursday 1st August and Friday 2nd August, Seamus Heaney HomePlace’s theatre, The Helicon, housed an intimate 206 people per show as the world acclaimed performer took the stage in his trademark striped suit and trilby, performing some of his most loved songs including Have I Told You Lately, St Dominic’s Preview, Moondance, Ballerina and so many more.

The atmosphere was electric as the audience gathered from over 18 different countries from across the world to bask in the special setting of these much sought-after shows.

The Helicon was almost dreamlike as Sir Van Morrison’s voice and musicianship soared through this unique venue, accompanied by his highly impressive six piece band.
After each show the audience was left both amazed and stunned with attendees commenting “It’s like watching him in his living room” and “The best show I have ever seen”.
As the shows came to a close the crowd rose to their feet cheering as Van exited still singing with his very last step off the stage.

Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Martin Kearney adds “Much like Seamus Heaney, Van’s words have touched people throughout the world and it was honour to host such a recognised and celebrated musician, especially one from our very own shores”.
