New collection of Seamus Heaney’s poems unveiled

June 28, 2018

HomePlace is honoured to celebrate the publication of 100 Poems, a new selection of Seamus Heaney’s poetry published this year by Faber & Faber.

Seamus Heaney himself conceived the idea of a personal selection of poems from across the entire arc of his writing life: small yet comprehensive enough to serve as an introduction for all comers. Now, finally, 100 Poems has been brought to life, an intimate collection chosen and introduced by the Heaney family. No other edition covers such a broad range, drawing from first to last from Heaney's prize-winning collections.
In 100 Poems, readers will enjoy Heaney’s most loved and celebrated poems including the poem voted most popular at HomePlace, ‘Mid-Term Break’ and also discover new favourites. It is a singular and welcoming anthology that will reach out far and wide, now and for years to come.
‘We hope that everyone will find something here to cherish or be surprised by: that a newcomer will enjoy reading these poems for the first time, and that the long-time devotee might rediscover a forgotten favourite or simply listen again to the poetic voice as it changes and matures over the course of many years.’  Catherine Heaney
To celebrate the publication, Faber poets Don Paterson, Zaffar Kunial and Jo Shapcott will be joined by Seamus Heaney’s son Chris Heaney to talk about this new collection and to read their favourite Heaney poems.
