It’s a ‘homecoming’ for Eleanor as Maghera actress stars at Seamus Heaney HomePlace this weekend

December 05, 2016

Maghera actress Eleanor Methven will be performing on home ground this weekend as she and takes part in a dramatic reading of ‘Wintering Out’ at Seamus Heaney HomePlace on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 December.

A highly respected theatre, television and film actress, Eleanor has been a fan of Seamus Heaney’s work since childhood.  She explains:

“I heard my first Heaney poem from my teacher the late Robert 'Bertie' Dunbar at the Rainey school when I was aged 12 and it was a revelation.  For a person to be a poet and from south Derry was truly momentous and Heaney’s work has continued to inspire me throughout my life.  I am delighted to be coming home to perform at Seamus Heaney HomePlace and look forward to meeting friends old and new this weekend!”

Recently seen on stage at the Abbey Theatre in the world premiere of “Donegal” by playwright Frank McGuinness, Eleanor will be performing with the highly acclaimed Rough Magic Theatre Company at HomePlace this weekend.

‘Wintering Out: A Dramatic Reading’ will take place Seamus Heaney HomePlace on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 December at 6.30pm both nights.  Tickets are £10 and are available to book online here.
